Your Step-By-Step Guide to Becoming a Troop Leader.

Please keep in mind that all paperwork must be approved, and all training must be completed prior to meeting with girls. You will be notified when the application process is complete.

Step 1:

Complete a Volunteer Application and become a registered Member of Girl Scouts of the USA.

Step 2:

Complete a Background Check.

Step 3:

Watch our 45-minute Girl Scouting 101 online training video.


That's all you need to get started!

After you receive your official Confirmation and Welcome Letter, you are ready to begin your volunteer experience!

Once you get started, we encourage you to participate in additional online or classroom trainings provided by our amazing team of volunteer training facilitators. We'll provide you with whatever training you need- from basic First Aid to Outdoor Living and Leadership Skills. And we'll be with you every step of the way with ongoing volunteer support and resources.

Additional Courses:

Volunteer Essentials: Learn all the basics of volunteering with us through this online module.

Troop FUNdamentals: This course covers more in-depth info about leading a troop, including extra helpful local community specifics

CPR/First Aid: You'll need this to take your girls on a trip or go camping.

Outdoor Adventure Workshops: Required to take girls to experience the outdoors.

Basic Outdoor Living Skills (BOLS): Required to take girls camping overnight.
