Troop Leader 101

Step-By-Step Guide to Becoming a Troop Leader:

Please keep in mind that all paperwork must be approved, and all training must be completed prior to meeting with girls. You will be notified when the application process is complete.

Step 1:

Fill out a volunteer application. We will contact the references you have supplied, so please prepare them! Once you submit the application, you'll complete our thorough background check process, which can take 4-6 weeks. In the meantime, check out our Policies and Procedures to find out more!

Step 2:

Register as a member of Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.

Step 3:

Take the Girl Scouting 101 Online Course. Note: this course is not available on mobile devices at this time. 

Step 4:

Complete the Volunteer Essentials Course. A Community Learning Coordinator will contact you to set up this training after you've completed Steps 1-3, or you can try out our Volunteer Essentials Online Training Module

Step 5:

Complete Troop FUNdamentals - we're adding new courses all the time.

​Step 6 (optional):

Complete CPR/First Aid and/or Basic Outdoor Living Skills (BOLS) in order to take girls on trips/camping.

Complete additional Adult Learning courses.
